Never would have thought of a Snow Phoenix, for this whisky seems to have turned into a collector's item, not many people willing to open one nowadays. So very happy to have had the opportunity to taste this one, a nice powerful dram with a lot of fruity and sweety notes, and sometimes some whiffs of smoke and mustiness.
Great dram. Nose 87 Fruity, with far far away a whiff of smoke. Then a lot of sweetness comes in, powder sugar, and pretty some alcohol noticeable. Taste 88 Strong and powerful, oily, thick structure. Sweet and fruity, a slight gentle, musty touch. Peach and some caramel. Finish 88 Still strong and powerful, pungent, sweet, honey. Some orange, caramel, vanilla. Pretty long, some wood now.
Show in original language An exciting whisky to be able to have tasted! Taking into consideration these days prices are outrageous so it was out of reach, until someone wanted to share this in a tasting. A pleasant and rich nose. It is closed at first but it does reveal after a while, it just takes a little effort. Floral, perfume-like hints and tropical fruits like ripe banana. Also nutty oloroso sherry influences are there as well as a light whiff of raspberries.
Well this is a whole different ballgame! As closed as the nose was, that expressive is the palate from the start. Great contrast! I get a lot of warm, spiced rooibos tea, red berries. A lot more heavy and outspoken then the nose might suggest.
Spiced honey liquor, apple compote and dry nuttiness like walnut and chestnut. Rather long. Lovely sherry cask influences here. Not in a peat kind of way but more in like charcoal. Lovely touch! Lovely dram! Nose 88 Finish 87 Nose 86 Taste 86
